How do I listen and record at the same time?

Hi, I downloaded the free trial version of Wavepad Masters Edition and right away I was able to listen through my headphones while recording or while not recording, as in I was constantly hearing everything through my headphones. My trial ended and I purchased the Wavepad standard edition and now I can only hear through the headphones when playing back a recording. I'm on a MacBook Air with Ventura 13.0.1. So what settings do I need to change to always be monitoring through my headphones?
