Lancelot Chan
same project, shown in 11.73 is like thishttp://www.rsw.com.hk/1173.jpg Shown in 12.07 is lower volume displayed (but they do play about the same) http://www.rsw.com.hk/1207.jpg Then I used OBS studio to record the playback volume between the two versions. There are some differences, though not as significant as before:http://www.rsw.com.hk/1173vs1207.jpg The left one is 11.73, which is louder. The right one is 12.07, which is quieter. Also, I still can't get 16 threads processing for h264 videos in 12.07 with x264enc7.exe But since NCH Software kindly let me continue my registration for 6 months with 12.07, I'll kindly keep testing the updating versions for you. Plus, the noise removal works now.
borate
Using 12.07, here's a file with low audio where 'normalize external' has been disabled... With it enabled... Same file, which is ALREADY at optimal level. With 'normalize external' disabled... With it enabled... NCH is still optimizing this function, but it looks to be working well in this release. Can't comment on x265enc7.exe, as it's not seen here. Compare rendering speed results.
Lancelot Chan
Rendering speed results are big difference. Otherwise I won't keep nagging on it. LOL.
borate
Specifically, what does 'rendering' refer to? If 'export' - testing a 2:15, four-track project (3 MOVs and 1 blank clip)... 1080, 45fps, h264 with the default GPU setting... Version 11.73 (64), Version 12.07 (32), Version 12.07 (64) - all the same at :42.
Lancelot Chan
Yes, export speed is huge difference between 11.32's 16 threads running x264enc7.exe and the later version that run it single thread only. I took the time to make a video for you to demonstrate the huge difference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIX2k8lIpwg
borate
Upload the same project for analysis. As above, a short test showed no difference between 11.73 and 12.07. Under OPTIONS | EDITING, at the bottom, select the GPU instead of Default. Please list your PC's specs: GPU/CPU.
Lancelot Chan
I'm using GPU already. Radeon R9 370. CPU I7 990x https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NFwGOT44Qbvi53nGJ8gHBlZ4eBTVJtOp?usp=sharing
borate
Thanks for sharing. The project appears to be somewhat different than your example - the bulk was blank, but for the logo at bottom-right, yet that shouldn't impact the test here. At your 2800kbps export quality, GPU activity was high, using 64-bit VP releases.... Version 11.73 2:04 Version 12.07 2:02 1:10 @ 29.97fps Have you tried the R9 370 GPU setting option?
Lancelot Chan
Yes, I was using R9 370 GPU all along and almost no gpu activity at all during export, for both 11.32 ver that I use mainly for h264 export since it uses 16 threads, and 11.45 ver that I used for H265 export. Just wish the programmers can take a look in the issue.

borate
Passed along. Try the default setting as well.
Lancelot Chan
Tried, same result with the 11.32 and 11.45. So the GPU wasn't involved in the export. I noticed the GPU does have activity at editing mode. But once I press export and cleared the editor, GPU activity died down to idle, or almost idle. Export time with 16 threads X264enc7 running, with CPU only setting, is 1:24.79, without the OBS recording running. So it shows that there's absolutely no GPU involvement in the export. I didn't bother to try the single thread h264 export for it takes 2x time.

Lancelot Chan
is this an encoding process, or playback process in the editor? I envy your system working like that either way.
borate
Nothing much during playback. Seeing some GPU action when re-encoding during editing and considerably higher numbers when exporting..

They just don't come to here to raise the issue. So I think I'm definitely onto something NCH should work on. borate
Will any program run precisely the same on every PC? Not likely. Hardware may be the crux, considering its infinite permutations. 64-bit 12.07 export here on an I7 with a GTX1060 card. 12 active processors, default h264 settings, Stats.mp4
Lancelot Chan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBCoaIGKH9M I made a compare of using the h264_amf hardware encoder on shotcut vs the export of videopad, doing the same video. Speed is like double when using GPU hardware encoder. yeah I know my computer is old. Just envy you.

Lancelot Chan
My current computer can't run any Nvidia card somehow, black screen after driver installation. :| Otherwise I would have switched.
Lancelot Chan
The audio seems alright in the recent 2 versions. Just looking forward to the multi-thread running of x264enc7.exe, if possible.
