Error while trying to send email

When trying to send dication by email, we get an error,

"Error while trying to send email. Email address may be wrong or your SMTP server may require a username or password. Please check address again and see Email Settings. (250): name@email.net" with the obious correct email address.

We can change the authentication password to an incorrect one and we get a different error without the (250). 

These same email settings work on a couple of other computers at other locations.
