Found some clues of the slow export in H264 in the versions after 11.38

I did a test with the latest beta 11.64 and the 11.32 in exporting to h264 and found out besides the speed difference I mentioned before, there's also one huge difference that may causes the problem.

With the versions that're slow in exporting in h264, the export program only use 1 thread!

While the versions that're fast in exporting in h264, the export program uses 16 threads!

Under the hood changes may be responsible for differences in releases.  And hardware.

Using beta 11.64 on a heavy duty export with GTX1060 turned on there is considerable GPU activity.  All eleven CPUs are shown to be in use.

1. goto windows search on the windows button and look for "perfmon.exe".
2. start it, you get "performance monitor". In the CPU windows, click the sorting to CPU usage. So once the export starts, you'll see the x264enc7.exe shows up.
3. Run videopad, export a video in h264 format.
4. look for x264enc7.exe in the CPU windows in performance monitor.

5. it'll show how much CPU and how many threads the encoder is using. If normal, it uses 16 threads. However, in my case the slow versions will use only 1 thread.

No such Perfmon display in Windows 10 or 11 spotted here.  Things may have changed.  Looks like this, and no 'sort' option is available.

However, in Resource Monitor VP is listed as noted above (81 threads).  The x264enc7.exe encoder isn't in that list.

Process Explorer shows this for Videopad...

The monitoring app is called resmon.exe in win 10 indeed.

X264enc7 only shows up when you export in h264. It was the encoder program of VP. If you export in h265, it will be x265enc3.exe that shows up. They're located in NCH software->components folder.

It shows in this video. Back then I was looking only at CPU usage, not the thread (the number in front of CPU usage). Now after I discovered the difference, this video also shows the same thing. The slow exporting of x264enc7.exe uses only 1 thread while the normal speed one uses 16 threads.

The Resource Monitor is precisely what is being viewed here, with your 27000, 1080 settings in VP version 11.64.

No matter which GPU usage mode is chosen under OPTIONS | EDITING tab, the 264 encoder is never listed.

Perhaps a difference in systems or usage?
