11.53 video export help needed

All,

I'm stumped and could sure use some help here.  I've been using various versions of VideoPad for the last three years.  My laptop died this week, forcing me to buy a new one (Windows 11 Home).  This required me to reload VP and I upgraded to 11.53 64bit at that time.  I successfully completed the project at hand with no real issues.

When starting my next little project, I now am no longer able to export to mp4.  Some screen message snippets are here:

Examples

Please let me know if you cannot see this linked file.

Basically, it doesn't really seem to be related to a specific project, but is universal.  Big job, small job--no difference.  I can take any little 5 second clip and attempt an export.  I either get a message that says 'pending' or just see zero progress.  It never gets off that message.  Clearing the disk cache makes no difference.  VP restarts and laptop reboots don't help.  The queue says that it's empty, but it's acting like there are processing running in the background that will not allow new work to progress.  Eventually, VP gets unresponsive, tells me about processes at work, and bombs out.  (Windows Task Manager doesn't make any VP running process evident, but I just might not recognize its name.)   I never saw this issue prior to 11.53.

Does anyone have any ideas here?  Seen this before?  Could there be some setting or parameter that might be causing this?  I cannot insure that my settings are exactly the same as they were before the laptop crash and 11.53 install.

Thoughts?

John

Okay, 11.55 beta was installed and things started working again.  I built three small clips with no issues.  I then built a 7 minute mp4 clip and it worked just fine.  I'm still being pretty cautious, but so far, so good.  Thanks for the advice.

Drop back in if issues surface.  For protection, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves.  Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.  From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.

Now those old problems are back.  Constant hangs during exports.  Same messages and issues as before.

I may need to go backwards a version or two.  The earlier versions spoiled me I guess.

Not seeing that here nor has that issue been reported.  Try another PC if available.  Also go to OPTIONS | EDITING tab and in the Advance section at the bottom choose OFF (CPU only) to see if that has an effect.

Older versions are available here.  They should be licensed as you have recently purchased.

Please take a few minutes to share a project that hangs so folks can analyze it.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Borate, it's too early to declare victory, but that certainly did something.  I'd taken a little mental health break, but when I returned to the project, I made that video processor 'cpu only' change.  A video that refused to export did so quickly and was error-free.

That was a nice feeling.  This problem has been pretty intermittent, so it's hard to say that it was the problem.  But, hey, it did work that time!  What is that setting?  Was the default setting looking for video hw that I don't seem to have?

Thanks again for the ideas and help.

That setting chooses whether the GPU is used - or not.  It's possible that your HW doesn't support the function.

Please state the stats for your PC:  Operating system, CPU, GPU, RAM, and upload a project that has failed.

This may help the developers pin down an elusive issue with some video adapters.

That's not to say it's YOUR issue, but keep us posted on status.  What version is being used now?

I've successfully exported five fairly-complex videos now with zero issues. Performance is back to where I experienced pre-change.
