How do I remove the darkish background of a document which I photographed and printed.

I photograph a page of text. This produces a JPG file. I convert this file into a PDF file. I now  print the file out.

When I print the file the background is darkish, making it difficult to see the  printed words.  How do I eliminate this darkish  background, and replace it with a  a more sympathetic colour like white (without changing the black colour of the  print)?  Or make it neutral or transparent.?

You may load the jpeg file to PhotoPad and play with Contrast and Brightness to adjust it depending on your needs. Those effects can be found under the Color menu
