mlblackford Posted August 18, 2006 Share Posted August 18, 2006 I've never had any trouble with my foot pedal and now when I push it to play my audio, it gives me the following message: Unable to start playback. This might mean you do not have a sound card installed or the sound card is being used by another application. Please check the Sound Device on the Playback tab of Settings. I've not changed any settings and do not remember what this one was to begin with. The option it was on was "(Default Sound Out)". The only other option listed is "Modem #1 Line Playback". I do not have anything else running besides e-mail. I have a 4-hour depo due very soon and am desperate for help! Any ideas are welcome!! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
druthenberg Posted September 18, 2006 Share Posted September 18, 2006 I have a client who uses Express Scribe and they are having the same problem. Is there a new update for Express Scribe that may have caused this problem? The sound works for IE sound files, and other things, just not with Express Scribe. andrewdotnich Posted September 29, 2006 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I have the same problem with almost the exact error message as the first poster. The machine I'm having trouble with has a Creative Audio PCI card installed - the drivers are reported by Windows as working fine, and other programs (like Windows Media Player) play files properly.
