sboutdoors
Can anyone help me (a newbie) convert a .ram file to a format that is acceptable to iTunes? I can't even play the .ram files in Switch, although they play fine in RealPlayer. Thanks,
nchtj
since realplayer invented the format, they can handle any of their own formats (of course). please open the .ram file in notepad and copy and paste what is inside into this thread.
sboutdoors
since realplayer invented the format, they can handle any of their own formats (of course). please open the .ram file in notepad and copy and paste what is inside into this thread. The .ram file(s) will not open in Notepad. I can play them with RealPlayer on my computer, but I want to convert them to a format (iTunes) where I can download to my iPod. Is this possible with Switch? It is for some Jordanian songs that I could not find in any other format. Thanks for your help!
nchtj
ok it looks like it has an incorrect extension then, it is probably really a .ra file. dont worry about trying to change the extension though, it won't do anything. some real audio files are difficult to convert, it looks like you may have to use our soundtap software and record the file as you play it. get more information here: http://www.nch.com.au/soundtap/index.html or you can use recordpad, but you need to know how to set it up properly: http://www.nch.com.au/recordpad/index.html
jmuse99
I'm having the same trouble with .rm files I downloaded here: http://www.northcountrypublicradio.org/news/iraqdiary.html I can add them but a window appears to tell me the permissions are wrong or that the file doesn't exist. Soundtap is PC software? Is there a Mac version? j
nchtj
no unfortunately there is no mac version. if you are using a mac to convert realmedia files, we don't support it on the mac its only on the windows version. i think the reason for that is Real do not have a third-party plugin for mac developers. see the faq question here: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/faq.html#ABA
