Importing Piano Classical Music

I am unsure after multiple trys how to get my piano pieces that use a T and B cleft, to import in and follow that pattern.  Import is always changing to put in every midi channel and I only want ch1.  but it says I have to remove parts, or turn off the channels, neither of which seem to change.  I tried 1st system only which isn't that saying follow what the Grand Staff is doing?  What am I missing.
