Export isn't working properly

What version of VP is being used?  Install this one.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

If the issue persists, someone here will be glad to help.  Just share the project folder.  Follow these simple instructions.  If uploaded to Google Drive be sure that ANYone can view it...

1. With your project on the timeline, click the 3-lined 'hamburger' menu, top-left.  Click FILE | BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Specify a folder.  Click SELECT FOLDER.
2.  Using the PC file manager, go to where the numbered folder was saved and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.*
3.  Get a shared, public, non-restricted link.
4.  Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me.  This is private and won't be shared.
*    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi Borate,

I have ongoing problems saving my video files. Sometimes I can save sequences as MP4 files to my PC, sometimes not. Sometimes I can save to Google Drive, but not to my PC. I have not been able to save Projects (vpj files) at all. The common default message I get is 'file cannot be found'. The working-not-working then working again seems very odd. I have VideoPad Professional v 8.67 which I purchased from NCH just recently. How can I get consistent export capability?

Something isn't kosher.

With the project on the timeline, click EXPORT on the tool or menu bar|VIDEO FILE.  The export window appears.  Choose the format and settings, and direct it to a convenient existing folder, such as DOWNLOADS.   That's it.

VP can directly export to Google Drive, MS OneDrive, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.   This is not dependent upon the VPJ (non-playable) file.  Export can be accomplished without first saving a project.

To save a project, so it can be loaded later by clicking the VPJ control file, use Save Project File AS, giving it a unique # or name so as to not overwrite prior saves.  Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.

Hi Borate. I really appreciate your quick replies (it has stopped me from dumping VideoPan and moving to another video editor program).

The steps you gave me are the steps I have been using, unfortunately the problem remains - just get the message saying the destination and file name cannot be found on my PC. But I can save to Google Drive (then can save to my PC)

I need to save directly to my PC (I do a lot of off-line work). Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

That's a new one - never before reported AFAIK.

Is this what you see when exporting?  What folder is Save pointing to?  You get the "file not found" message when you click CREATE in the export dialog box?

Close VP.   Reopen, then prior to loading any files go to OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files.

You can also try this free tool to uninstall VP and all its registry files, then reinstall v8.74.  And it wouldn't hurt to reboot the PC.

Other than that, perhaps someone else has a clue.

Hi Borate,

I installed the uninstall tool, uninstalled VP, then re-Installed (v8.740), ran a test sequence and saved to my PC as mp4   .... YES !! it worked!!. Hope the fix is permanent.

Thanks for you help today Borate, NCH should increase your salary.

Cheers,

Peter J
