Recording mono but output in stereo

Hi Forum,

I do record a guitar with an USB Audiointerface.

This is truly mono, so only left channel.

But I wanted the output in stereo, as mono sounds not good within the video.

Is there an easy way to fulfill this without any external or other software?

(I don't wanna duplicate left channel to right in wavepad... as this requires more licences, etc.)

thanks & best,

ghmork

Sorry, No alternative for me. I just wanted to have it simple and not another software.

Is there really no simple way to have a recording making this easy, like choosing channels, inputs and outputs?

Is there a way giving my videopad key back?

MONO comes in two flavors.  One is audio recorded to a single channel, like yours.

The other is identical audio recorded onto both channels (two- or center-channel MONO).  That's the way to record if possible.

Videopad, other editors and viewers handle single-channel audio correctly by playing back the single (usually left) channel only.

Many audio utilities can make the conversion to two-channel MONO but WavePad is very easy.  Click the STEREO button, click the chevron, then MONO, click CONVERT and exit/save.

You should not need to purchase another license.  Try the free (trial) WavePad and see if it does the job.

As mentioned, any video editor should handle left-channel only MONO files just the same.

If you right-click the audio clip on the sequence there may be an Edit With Wavepad choice.  Click that and WP will install.

this I did not found. is there any screen you could share or some menu which leads me?

with stereo button you mean "show both channels separately"

sorry, I do have the german UI, I may try to switch to engl.

there is also no chevron button, or anything looking similar.

screens would be great!

Thank you guys, happy sunday,

thanks for the video.

first, I do not have the "open in wavepad" button... but "open with.." -> then "wavepad"

This worked when the licence was still in evolution mode, but now my trial is over and it cannot save without a licence in the same file.

just in another .wpp file which cant be opened by the videopad.

so what now?

again the question- can I have money back for videopad?

best,

Videopad handles mono/stereo correctly IMO.  Other editors may operate similarly.  Conversion will likely require a separate app.

The Edit With Wavepad button isn't always available;  if not, just perform the operation manually with WP or any audio utility.

Install a new copy of WavePad, open your file, change the mode (as above) and SAVE.  Substitute that file for the original in your Videopad project.

Come back if the issue persists.  If you upload your mono file and link it here someone will be glad to convert it for you.
