Kate Jordan
So I had 30 different people each record videos on their phone, and now I have spliced them together into one 25 minutes movie. The problem is, some recordings are done in landscape orientation, others in portrait. I need to be able to change the aspect ratio separately for each clip. Right now, if I change it for one, it changes it for all clips. How can I fix this?
borate
Click the FX button on a sequence clip. Click the green + sign. Scroll to the Aspect Ratio area. Try LETTERBOX. Or, prior to dropping the clips onto the sequence, right-click them in a bin and change the A/R there.

borate
Good to hear. It's not necessary to change the A/R of each clip individually. On the sequence, select (highlight) those to be changed, click the FX button on any one of them, open Effects and click the desired Aspect Ratio button. Then, click the sixth button from the right on the toolbar (REPLACE effect chain in other selected clips). That will apply the change to all selected. Do this prior to other effects if possible. The Next button to the right will APPEND to selected clips.
