It said it was freeware

I downloaded Switch. It said it was completely free. But I just go a notice that my "freeware" software was going to expire in one day. So I paid $24 to registure it. So was it really "freeware"? It is worth the registration but what did I misunderstand?

there is a free version, but the pay version lets you convert to lots more formats, like aac, m4a, flac and ogg.

 

extra pay-only features will be added soon which you should also be able to take advantage of (without paying again).
