Loud popping/static sound when fade between clips

For some reason I have a popping/static sound when I add fade between the clips. I'm running professional version 6.30 by the way. The popping noise is really sudden and loud right when the video goes from one clip to another.

It doesn't work.

6.30 is dated.  You might test your saved project in the latest, if it will load.  Save your 6.30 installer, of course.  The latest won't be licensed/registered - it's a trial version, unless you pay to upgrade.

Does the noise occur on every fade, or just one?  Are the clips on the same track?   Switch to Storyboard mode and verify that there's no extra video/audio between the two.

Good to hear.  If you registered the new version, upgrades are free for up to six months.  If you did not, some features will not be available after the trial period ends.
