Guest Bridget Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Does anyone know how to enter repeat lines please?
Guest Michelle Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Just click on a bar and right above it, is a small box, click on it and move it wherever you want.
Raymond Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hi Bridget, I have managed to enter these repeat lines by, after entering the numbers 1 and 2 above the bars. In 'Edit Mode' select the 'Text Tool' again and place the horizontal and vertical dotted lines where you want the lines to start, ie above and start of the bar, click to set these dotted lines and an 'Edit Text' screen will appear. Now, press and hold the 'Shift' key whilst depressing the 'Underscore' key several times until you have the right length, this is by trial and error unfortuntely, press 'Set' or 'Enter'. The length of these lines can be adjusted, whilst still in 'Edit Mode' and 'Text tool' selected, by placing the cursor on the line and clicking when it turns orange, the 'Edit Text' screen will appear again, now with a thick blue line. Click on this blue line and the thinner black line will appear, you can now either increase or decrease in the normal way. So much for the horizontal lines, havn't managed the vertical lines yet.
Guest Alex Chapman Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hi Bridget, If you just want repeat bar lines (with two dots beside the bar line at either end of a repeated passage), then right-click on the bar lines where you want them and choose 'Begin Repeat', 'End Repeat', or 'Double Repeat'. Alex
JackE Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 If you want to repeat the bar immediately preceding, but want to save space, you can use the symbol which is two diagonal lines with one dot above and one dot below, which means 'play this bar exactly the same as the one before it'. These are the steps required: 1. left click on the bar where you want to put the symbol for 'Repeat Previous Bar'; 2. right click on the bar - that opens up a drop-down menu; 3. left click on 'Repeat one bar' - and the symbol is inserted in the bar. HTH, JackE
Mike Fiacre51 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Does anyone know how to get the repeat from symbol - two lines and dots - at the start of a stave?

Mike Fiacre51 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I can do that but if you want the repeat to start from the first bar of a line of stave, I can't see how to do this.

Oh, I'm with you. Right, how I did it was like this: 1. go to the first bar line in the piece (for the moment, ignore the notes between the time sig. and that first bar line); 2. right click on that bar line, and use the options to make it 'Start Repeat'; 3. insert an additional bar in between the 'Start Repeat' sign and the notes of the second bar; 4. copy the notes between the time sig. and the 'Start Repeat' sign; 5. paste them into your new bar after the 'Start Repeat' sign; 6. delete those notes from between the time sig. and the 'Start Repeat' sign; 7. drag the 'Start Repeat' sign back to the time sig. I don't know if that's the official way to do it, but I just tried it and it worked okay. HTH, Jack
AlGeee Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 How, please, to set multiple, or infinite, repeat? ostinato is what Im looking for tia
Cesmar Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 If you want that a bar repeat 20 TIMES, how you can do that?
DebM Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Did anyone find a way to indicate multiple repeats of a bar/measure? As the previous poster asked - if you want to repeat a bar 20 times, how would you do that? I am familiar with the notation using the 'begin repeat' and end repeat' and also the single and double repeats signs that look like percent signs.
borate Posted March 26 Posted March 26 AI has these suggestions, though they are not always accurate... "In NCH Crescendo, to indicate multiple repeats of a bar or measure, you can use repeat barlines and set the desired number of repetitions. Here's how you can achieve this: Insert Repeat Bar Lines: Right-click on the barline where you want the repeat to begin and select "Begin Repeat." Similarly, right-click on the barline where you want the repeat to end and select "End Repeat". Set the Number of Repeats: Right-click on the last measure of the repeated section. Select "Measure Properties" from the menu. In the pop-up window, locate the "Play Count" field and set it to the desired number of repeats (e.g., 20). Click "Apply" or "OK" to save your changes. Optional Notation for Clarity: Add a text annotation above the repeated section (e.g., "Play 20 times") to make it clear for performers. This method ensures both proper playback and clear notation for musicians."
DebM Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Thank you borate for the quick response. That does sound to be exactly what I need. However, the "Measure Properties" must be an option only for the purchased version and not the free version as it does not appear on the Right-click menu
borate Posted March 26 Posted March 26 This may be your solution. Give it a try and please report back... The AI instruction with regards to "Set the Number of Repeats" is incorrect. The user likely needs a volta which indicates repetition with different endings. It is used in combination with repeat bar lines. The following will repeat the measures enclosed in the begin and end repeat bar lines for 10x: To add repeat barlines, right click measure and select "Repeat->Begin Repeat/End Repeat". To add volta, the volta tool can be used or right click measure and select "Measure->Add Volta. For the volta, the repetition can be set using the volta dialog. To open the dialog, right click the volta and select "Edit Volta":
DebM Posted March 27 Posted March 27 The Volta worked for repeating a measure as many times as desired. Thank you for the step by step instructions!!
