Encoder Settings for wav

I installed switch plus 1.05 on a server (licensed). When I select the output format as .wav and click on the Encoder Settings nothing happens. No dialog box is displayed. If I try to just do a simple convert of an mp3 to wav the application pops up an error:

"Conversion of the file "c:\temp\a.mp3" has failed. Please see http://www.nch..com.au/acm/support.html for possible answers to the problem."

I know the a.mp3 file is good because I can do this conversion on my work station. Incidentally, the Encoder settings button works on my work station. However, I need to get this working on the server.

FYI, don't know if any of this is significant but here is some more info about the Encoder Settings button. The dialog does display for other formats such as .vox, .ogg, .raw. For some formats, the button is greyed out: .au, .aiff, .gsm.

Hi,

When you say "server", do you mean Windows Server 2003 ?

What's happening here is, when you select .wav and click the Encoder Settings button, Switch actually calls up a configuration window that is supposed to come standard with all versions of Windows. It appears that your Windows Server 2003 system (or whatever it is) does not come with that dialog installed.

And if this particular dialog is missing, that would probably explain why the conversion failed, because our software relies on the presence of the dialog to be able to convert from/to .wav files.

There is really nothing I can do for you other than to find out if Windows Server comes with patches or something that installs the wav configuration window, which I will do of course.

Re: au, aiff, gsm - yes they are currently greyed out, we will be adding settings boxes for them at a later date.

Thanks for your detailed post, always helps.
