  1. I have to agree with Delta & NT regarding the display colors...it's almost blinding. I'm thinking of rolling back to a previous version. The thing is, it looks like a negative image; the waveform is black, while the background is bright white...or something. Almost any color on a black background would have been fine...but I can hardly look at this.
  2. Nope, I've had the same exact issue in XPsp2. Finally solved the problem by uninstalling everything but Wavepad. Don't know why the default position is to automatically start a record file when Windows starts. Just bizarre.

I am also interested in using VST plugins with Wavepad, if this functionality exists. I currently use "Source-Connect" with CUBASE LE but would love to try this in Wavepad's much simpler interface.
  4. I have a solution, let's see how long it works. You have to make sure the "Windows Audio" service is running in the background at all times. Click Start, Run, then enter services.msc You'll be in the Services(local) menu screen. Scroll down to "Windows Audio" and click on it once. In the sidebar, click "Start the service. " This assumes you're having the same problem I am, and that this service is somehow being stopped by another program. Just to reiterate, this "service" is supposed to be running all the time, and if it shuts down for some reason, it will cause havoc with your audio. You may still have to reload your drivers, as noted previously.
  5. OK, so I'm not the only one having this issue. I'm running Wavepad in XP on my brand new HP Pavillion dv9000 series laptop. I'm still working through this issue, and while I think it may be systemic, opening Wavepad definitely triggers the problem, which is: it somehow removes my Conexant HD Audio device. The device is listed in Hardware profiles as working properly, but it is not listed in the list of default devices for sound playback (control panel>>sound and audio devices>>audio). I have had mixed success by removing the device and reloading it and the drivers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Funny thing is, I have used Wavepad on this laptop before with no probs, and have used it for several years on a much older computer, again, no problems at all. This is especially frustrating, and I am almost ready to throw this HP machine out the window and start over with a Mac.
