    Reviving this old thread.

We have been using Switch for more than 10 years. Recently updated to a new server and bought a new version of the app.

We are converting voicemail audio files (primarily .wav) to various formats (primarly .ogg and .mp3). On the new version it seems that the audio volume is lower even though the source files haven't changed.

It looks like the 'Normalize' option could take care of it, but we are running from command line and there is not option listed for it.

In another thread, somebody opined that if a setting is changed in the app, it would apply to subsequent conversions. Is this accurate? I suppose we can do some testing but would would be much more comfortable with some knowledge behind it or even better yet, a command line switch.

Yes, you can change the settings in the app and all subsequent conversions will use this.

  2. Thanks everybody and  I have been able to identify this issue

We will try to release a new version before Christmas with these bug fixed.

This is "Not enough memory bug" and this explains why exporting success at low resolutions.  And yes, it is also related to Pan-Zoom effect.

You can reproduce this bug by using windows memory monitor. When exporting, if you notice there is a significant and continuous memory increasing. Than it is a because of this.

I'm using an old version of Microsound sound editor to master my radio show every week. It's running on Win98SE with a proprietary sound card in a now obsolete slot. Can't replace hardware or the app. And I have a library of songs I need to convert from .SF to .WAV before disaster strikes. The SF file it creates is about the same size as an exported WAV file.

I have my list of .SF files safely backing up on Carbonite, but I really, urgently, would like support to convert .SF to .WAV

Hi Bluffwood, can you please send me some sample sf files to my email address jack.zhang@nchsoftware.com so that I will look into it.

  4. We have had repeated issues of a antivirus considering our products viruses and marking/deleting the downloads. We are working the av companies and gets them unlisted.

    So it is either

    a) your local antivirus is deleting it as a virus. Try disabling it and re-download and run

    B) Windows 8/10 it could be Windows SmartScreen but you can tell it 'Run anyway'

  5. Converted m4a, mp3 files where the tag was correct to WMA lossless, WMA PRO whatever and some files look ok. But most have either nothing or garbled information in track, album, artist, etc. Tried many different ways and different files. Doesn't work. I have since moved on to other software for converting that does work correctly on the files I tried with this. I wish I had better news.

Hi jkollar, are you able to upload the original and converted file(which have either nothing or garbled information in track, )to somewhere that I can download, I will look into it.

  6. I've uploaded the VP project (EndCardsTestNarration) and narration (.wav) files, plus the generated .mp4 output to this location: https://www.dropbox....JvpVMyQ1aa?dl=0

The audio when playing in VP sounds as I would expect; the generated audio in the .mp4 file sounds clipped. This only happens when using a narrated source, not a video input file, I've found. I'm generating the output at 25fps YouTube HD 1920 x 1080, custom quality of 8192 bps and audio at 128k (these settings have been used for the past 12 months).

Can you hear the distortion in my generated .mp4 file? Does your generated .mp4 file sound the same? I've double-checked all the microphone input level settings. Remember that I'm still recording video using the same audio settings using OBS and everything is as it always was, just fine.

Hi Aresby, as borate said, it seems your output mp4 file has been normalized. Can you please check your videopad->Options->Media and make sure "Automatically normalize audio volume" is disabled.

  7. Converting songs from FLAC to M4a. Switch decodes the FLAC file into a .CAF file and then creates the .m4a, it does not delete the .CAF files which I have to manually delete to keep the program from using all the space on my C:\ drive and causing an error.

I did not select delete source files when done as I would suppose this would delete my FLAC file, which I still want.

    Thanks for your help,

    Jim

Thanks WhyJackson, we have confirmed this issue and will fix this in the next release.
