  1. Hi all - I recently reformatted my hard drive and had to reinstall ES. I installed my previuos version, 4.01. However, I'm having troubles opening .dss files now. When attempting to open, it appears that the file length is 0 seconds, even though I know it is much larger. I installed the dss codec and still no luck. Finally, I uninstalled and reinstalled the newest version of ES, and still the same problem. I then read about potentially being about to convert the files with IP Switch to resolve this issue. However, I downloaded IP Switch and it cannot convert the file (corrupted?). The strange part is I then zipped the dss files and transfered them to my other computer, which then played the files with ES 4.01. Any ideas what I'm missing? Is there a setting to change? Also, I did try installing the newest version of ES and still no luck. I then also installed a version of Olympus DS Lite Player, and it will not play dss files either. I KNOW these files aren't corrupt, as I am able to play them on another computer. In addition, I tried playing some of my old sound files and still will not play. Any ideas??
  2. I'm not sure if you've tried this, but the "settings" tab has a place to remove the hot keys. I've removed all of mine and created new ones. To delete these go to settings, control tab, then see "system-wide hot key assignment." You can delete these, albeit one by one. Hope this helps!
  3. There is a setting on Express Scribe to take care of this. Go to settings and then the "files" tab. You will see a place at the bottom that says "Delete old 'done' files after number of days" and a place where you can type in a number. I just set mine to 1 day. Hope it works for you!
  4. I have the .exe file for version 4.01 on my computer still if anyone would like me to forward it. I had this problem w/my mom's computer over the weekend, and it resolved when I installed the older version. You can email me at traci@harpersolutions.com if you would like me to send you the older version. Also, I emailed the tech support team and they seem to have no clue that there is a problem w/the newer version of the software. I have told them how I resolved the problem, and hopefully they will get it fixed w/the next version?? Good luck! Traci

  7. I'm having the same problem!! Hopefully we'll get a response here some time.
  8. Just something to try from my experience... you may want to go to the "settings" on express scribe and change the mode from "increasing speed' to constant speed. I've had several people have trouble w/this type of thing in my line of work, and generally this seems to resolve the issue. Hope it works! Traci
