Several years ago, when I became aware of NCH software, after purchase of several excellent programs I regularly received emails on no-cost upgrades.

Why has the company discontinued email notices? I depend on these emails to upgrade on time, then purchase a new license when appropriate.

Just noticed that another customer posted a request for critical info (moving to a new computer) over a month ago, and no one has responded.

Has NCH grown so much with many sales of reasonably-priced software that they no longer care to keep old customers?

I want to share my shortcuts among a few users using Dropbox. I plan on purchasing a business license.

This is currently being added as a new feature in FastFox. In the meantime, you can share your shortcuts by doing the following:

- Find the abbrev.dat in the Program Data folder (e.g. C:\ProgramData\NCH Software\FastFox on Win7)

- Copy that file to a new computer

- Import the shortcuts with File->Load Data

I noticed a pair of calls to Lightning PDF printer in the system scheduler after installation:

 

"C:\Program Files\NCH Software\LightningPDF\lightningpdf.exe" -sevendays

 

and

 

"C:\Program Files\NCH Software\LightningPDF\lightningpdf.exe" -shakeicon

 

What us the program doing when it's called in this way, and why is there no mention of it in the documentation? (not mentioning it makes it appear that something might be going on, that you might not want to be known...)

Many applications (not just those from NCH Software) use scheduled tasks to do things like check for updates or maintenance. This way, these things can be performed even if the application is not ran. This is especially useful for Lightning PDF because it is a driver and the main application is hardly, if ever, used.

I am creating a movie that I need to start over once it completes. Basically loop around continually until I stop it.

Is there a feature to do this? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Currently we don't have any functionality for this. Perhaps we will take a look at this for a future release.

OK, I have started to download movies, cool, they work on my PC, usually opens in Video Lan. OK so I wanted to burn to a DVD R,( so that my wife can waqtch on the Samsung 52 inch screen) and 4 blanks came with my Acer all in one PC. I downloaded the prog, and located the movie, so it started to convert files...GOOD...thats what I wanted to see. Then it continued to burn to disc, then verify. Ok finalised and complete. I put it in My DVD player. Message came up on screen not in DVD format unable to play. I did choose the make DVD option and yes I used a DVD R. Please help.

It playes on the PC though...strange.

What is the manufacturer and model of the DVD player you are attempting to get the disc to play on? Have you tried another player other than the one in the computer?

When converting from .DOC to .TXT, the program necessarily puts a Byte Order Mark, (BOM) at the beginning of the file. Is there a was to have this conversion as straight ASCII rather than UTF-8 without embedding the BOM. It shows up as "", which is undesirable.

Downloaded the program 2 weeks ago and it worked great. Today attempted to convert PDF file to DOC, as in the past, and it comes up Blank.

Multiple times, same result. Like it just stopped working...

We've looked into DOCX not converting to DOC and have found a couple of cases where a blank document would be produced. Hopefully, we'll have those fixed soon. As for PDF, there are PDFs where the text is stored internally as an image (to prevent editing) so those will indeed create a blank document. Could this be the cause for you?

i've some problem with command line and doxilion,

when i try to use the parameter -outfolder followed by the destination path the software ignore my request.

I tried to use only the parameter without anithyg, I tried to use ", ' nothinh works.

 

have any suggestion?

I have downloaded and reinstalled DOxillion v.1.01 multiple times. I am trying to convert a PDF file to a DOC file. I keep getting a very non-specific error message saying the conversion had an error. What can cause this? I don't want to pay for support if the product won't do this tasks as advertised. Hi,

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing troubles converting your PDF to a DOC. Both of these features were introduced with 1.01.

One problem we are seeing with PDF conversion is when the PDF is, internally, really just an image. This could be the issue here. One possible work around is to try to convert the PDF to a different format, such as DOCX, and see if that works. If it does, you can convert the DOCX to DOC. If it doesn't work, Doxillion can't convert the PDF for some reason.

Ok I got the document coverted but Icannot open the file. Any suggestions?

Hi Vicki,

Normally, double clicking the file will open it with your default web browser. Otherwise you can open a browser window and load the file with the File->Open File... menu item. Is this not working for you?

This problem should have been fixed in 4.03. If it hasn't, please let us know and we will have another look at it.
