  1. Well not happy with customer service emails?

I have a bad problem. While the person is dictating the system stops and replays the dictation which cuts the person off 1 minute 2 minute doesnt make a difference. The log screen shows call Call timed-out while recording. This is costing me some serious money. Anybody have any ideas.

Sounds like either the software or the hardware is picking up false key presses. I had the same problem and was never able to resolve the issue. I spent about 6 months and would put myself at an advanced level with dictation systems, cards and computers in general.

  2. Does anybody ever get any resolution to this stuff?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a card and/or software that DOES work?

I would love to hear from someone who has a good, working solution to call-in dictation, even if it's a different product!

CJESSEE - you seem to be on here a lot - what are you doing? Is it working for you?

I abandoned the system. Support was horrible. I tried 2 different board manufacturers that NCH suggested. Neither "helped" the problem, although synway was much better with support and such. All in all - I lost about 4,000 dollars on it. I spent the extra money and moved to Audioworxs and brooktrout cards.

My problems included limited customizability, false key presses (constantly), and the system kicks everyone off when you add a user.. so that makes it good for about 1 user.

  3. I have also found a few codecs in which Vista does not support - those being: OKI ADPCM and ADPCM - I have contact the manufacturer of the hardware that is producing these codecs - they basically said that I was out of luck. If I see anything - I'll let you know - if you do the same for me.

  4. Melody,

Your problem is not the sme as you are using analog phone lines. However what you need to do is to increase your "recording continous auto stip time. 450 is about 7 1/2 minutes after which DD will automatically go to pause mode and read out the messageyou indicated. Set your recording continuous auto stop time = Number of minutes you want as the limit X 60. for example setting it to 1200 will allow up to 20 minutes before going to pause mode.

    For ALL,

I'm happy to let you know that NCH support was able to have their developers come up with a fix. I recieved pre release of fixed version (4.13) this mornning. My intial testing was to dictate 12 minutes of continous recording without any issues.

I'm jealous - I have been waiting for a response since November of 2007.

  5. The false key presses are coming from the Synway drivers. The board can mis-detect some parts of the voice as DTMF tones, the configuration changes are suppose to change the boards sensitivity. How to configure the board... Honsetly I've been up and down the Synway site to find out how to save many of you the trouble... No love there. I'd suggest getting in contact with Synways support directly like cjessee suggested if you need info on how to configure the board. Perhaps if someone finds out how to configure the board and wants to post those directions in this forum it could help a lot of people having this issue.

Synway was 600% more helpful than DialDictate - really - I have found 3 points where the Synway card was working correctly and the DialDictate software was just not picking up the right signals... I don't believe that the Synway card is the highest end - but I can't doubt them when all they give me is code that I have to forward on to DialDictate in order to get something fixed...

  6. I had similar problems as well with DD. Response from NCH was very poor - I had waited 3 months and did not get a response. I e-mailed about once a month to check on the progress and was met with "why do you keep bothering us" response.

  7. We are looking to deploy dial-dictate software however, one thing that has prevented us from doing so has been

    1) Inability to assign custom key pad settings to different users

    2) Inability to allow additional inputs before recording is initiated

If NCH or any of the users can confirm that these features are available, we would be ready to purchase this product. Anyone have any experience with this. Let me know. Txs

These are not features supported by Dial Dictate. It is certainly not a system that will allow you to deploy in large environments, it might be a good system for 10 doctors and below.

  8. Hi,

I am thinking of using DD (DialDictate) for a new to build dictation system.

Before I purchase a license I have a number of questions about DD.

    1. Which databases are supported by DD?

    2. How do I connect DD to use the supported databases?

    3. Can I use the database to service more than one DD Server for logins?

    4. How do I setup SIP for concurrent calls?

    5. How many concurrent calls can DD handle in old telephony (POTS or ISDN)?

    6. How many concurrent calls can DD handle with SIP calls?

    7. How is the technical support, speed and quality?

    8. How is the pre-sales support?

    Kind regards,

    Gerhard

    1. Zero

    2. You can't.

    3. Nope.

    4. I haven't tried this.

    5. I think as many as you can get on one card. I had 16 going at one time.

    6. N/A

    7. The worst - had a problem in November, and actual bug in their system that they admitted they were "working" on - Still haven't heard back from them - I have since abandonned their system. (I had paid for support as well)

    8. Non-existent - if you call them on the phone, they seem bothered by you.

All and all - my advice is to stay away - I *had* about 13 months experience using the system, nothing but bugs - sound quality is bad and the lack of support was the nail in the coffin for me.

  9. I have had problems with my DSS files not downloading since 02/14/2008. I have tried the different versions of Express Scribe that have been suggested and I cannot get any of the DSS files from one physician to download that I was doing before this date. I know her machine was changed out for a newer one, but same style. Is there anything that needs to be changed on her machine or the other physician's machines that would help with this problem. I still can get three doctor's DSS files to work, but not the others. I can only get the files with the capital DSS on the end of the files to download. The small dss on the end of the files do not download. Any suggestions are welcome.

This solution might solve the problem:

  10. Yeah - I have been waiting about 3 months for a response on a problem with their system. I have sent lots of e-mails, but I get an agitated response back. My problem is a genuine software bug in which the "short review" feature does not work. I handed off the logs illustrating the problem - they told me they were going to get back to me...

  11. I have been following this problem with Express Scribe not being able to load dss files and I have a question for those that are having these problems....

On all of the machines that I have seen struggle with playing dss files, "Start/Stop Transcription" software was installed on each one either currently or at one time. Are there any other cases out there that match that?

  12. I have the same problem with the review feature.... it works the first time, but if the docs hit the button again, it will take them all the way back to the beginning. I have been trying for about 2 months now to get a resolution - but I am still waiting for an executable.

I haven't had a problem with losing files - although, a good place to look for those files is in the user directory.. I believe you can get there by going to:

    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\Dial Dictate\Users\

Under that folder you will find a bunch of numbered folders - those folders happen to be the user ID... look under those folders for .wav files and see if you don't find your missing dictation there.

  13. In my case, using a standard POTS line - I get two minutes of silence. I basically turned the "Voice Activation" off - and made it just record no matter what. It was definitely worth the extra file size. This is probably a different problem than you have - but I wanted to post my solution for the POTS line in the event someone else comes across it.
