JeremyHarrison
Has anyone tried manually adding Shortcut keys. I had all of my keys mapped in 4.05 exactly as I like them. When I tried to map them in 4.24 it kept giving me the wrong key. When it would prompt for a key and I would hit F2, for instance, it reported the key as F1. Only about half of the function keys now appear to be mappable and most of them are mapped to the wrong key. I thought it might have to do with the fact that I am using an external bluetooth Mac aluminum keyboard, but the same problem happens with the built in keyboard of my MacBookPro. Has anyone else experienced this? Just for the record, I still have 4.05 installed. And if anyone reads this, please don't suggest that I uninstall it to test if that works. I do too much transcription in my line of work that I can't afford to lose the proper mapping of my keys. I found a settings.ini file but it is for Express Scribe 4.05. Is there anywhere I can copy and paste that file in order to bring the settings over to 4.24?
Jurno
I'm also having trouble with controls. I own a MacBook Pro, I've updated to ExpressScribe 4.25 (from 4.05), and it doesn't want to register my hot keys for Stepping forward or stepping back. Nothing seems to work but play and stop. I've made sure to tell the Keyboard system preferences to allow me to use the keys -- F7 for step back and F9 for step forward, to correspond to the key markings -- but so far, no good. Any suggestions?
gisele.aubut
As promised Im here to let you know Express Scribe for Mac has been released this afternoon. Download from http://www.nch.com.au/scribe/index.html Thank you. I've just downloaded it into my new Mac. Only problem is: it won't open a wav dictation file and gives me a message that it is unable to open the wav file because audio compression codec isn't installed. Could you enlighten me as to what I should do? Thank you. g
JeremyHarrison
Hot Keys Now Working... I find it a little bizarre that a user rather than an admin is the one posting this but I'm glad to report in any case that the Hot Keys have been fixed in the current release. I just downloaded it to see if it had been updated. The version appears as 5.26 and the keys are mapped correctly.
lane_212
Hot Keys Now Working... I find it a little bizarre that a user rather than an admin is the one posting this but I'm glad to report in any case that the Hot Keys have been fixed in the current release. I just downloaded it to see if it had been updated. The version appears as 5.26 and the keys are mapped correctly. No, this isn't correct. Or if it is, I haven't found any OS X version 5.26 in an hour of looking. But the HOT KEYS issue is real, and a REAL problem. This software is basically worthless without it - as any transcriber knows you absolutely need to be able to rewind or skip back at the touch of a button. This is a big, big problem that needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY. If this is a bug and won't be fixed for awhile, can someone direct me to a different program for OS X that will do what I need it to do? Namely, play an audio file with variable speed controls and rewind/skip back hot keys that actually work? Sorry to pose this twice, but the above user did - why, I might ask - and I need an answer FAST.

Is it a standard keyboard? Are you using v 4.26? I have OS 10.4.11 Yes, standard keyboard. It's a MacBook Express Scribe version 4.25, downloaded a week ago. Yes, I realize the key keys *should* work, the problem is that they don't. You can enter them and assign them a task, like shift+apple+left arrow = skip back 5 seconds, but that keystroke won't do anything, either in the program or out of it. Thanks very much for your prompt response. I guess I just assumed that since I had downloaded it so recently it was the latest version already. Having hot keys work should speed me up considerably. Thanks again. -Lane
