Need info on setting up VRS

Hi,

 

I just got my "Direct PSTN Line Call Recording Adapter by VEC" (from a link on this site) and I am testing VRS. I hook the adapter to my line-in and set the gain option. When I record a call I can hear myself very clearly but the other person voice is faint and I have problem hearing it.

 

Should I use the line-in or mic input on my computer?

Is it better to use Stereo or mono?

Any other trick to be able to boost the other person voice level, (already have the level gain control option selected)
