Caller ID Pattern

Hi...

I'm from India and using a phone line that's caller-id enabled. I'm using a voice modem, which also supports caller-id (checked it with HyperTerminal). However, still IVM shows "unknown" as a caller when a call comes in.

I have read somewhere that most software that detects caller-id have different pattern, like, Name, Number, Date, Time etc. But, here in India we receive only Number.

So, what's IVM's caller-id detection pattern? If it's same as above, how can one configure it to receive only Number? Probably a Plug-in developer may help !

Thanks in advance.

I believe IVM relies on the TAPI drivers provided with your modem for the caller ID information. If the CID is not being displayed in IVM, it's likely that the drivers for your modem are not functioning fully. Try updating, or finding specific drivers for your region.

We can try and narrow down the problem to see whether the problem lies within the modem not sending the Caller ID through TAPI properly, or the IVM software not properly interpreting the Caller ID given by TAPI.

To do this, I recommend you download a program like Line Watcher

It will use the same TAPI commands/interface IVM uses to collect the Caller ID information on an incoming call. If the software above can detect the caller ID, it indicates the problem lies with IVM and not the modem/TAPI interface. If the caller ID is not shown, the modem is not sending the Caller ID info through TAPI correctly.
