ISO Matter!

I just downloaded the burn demo and problems!

I, like another post I read here , have had the damndest luck with CD/DVD Burners! Roxio was the latest disaster and I believe that remnents of that dismal program are the cause of Burn not getting me of the ground right away! I believe ROXIO 6 was set up the last time it was used on my pc as a default ISO file burner? Which probably didn't work anyway!! I think maybe it still is setting up burns as ISO. Which I do not want, just back up a few files please! Question is: How do I get my file extensions so that I can select what I need? I guess somewhere buried in the HELP files is the answer, or maybe it is so obvious to the computer savvy its not worth memtioning.? Your help appreciated so I can see if my search for a working burner is over. Thanks
