VRS and Hi-Phone Desktop USB

I just bought a hi-Phone Desktop USB device and I've been looking for software to use with it. I just found VRS and downloaded the trial version. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? VRS doesn't seem to detect the phone pick-up or hang up at all. However, if I start the Hi-Phone Test Wizard, VRS suddenly recognizes pick-ups, etc.

 

Any ideas on how to make VRS work this the hi-phone desktop without having the test wizard open? It looks like VRS just needs to initialize the device or I'm missing something else.
