Foot pedal backstop makes screen go back

My foot pedal had been working great, but now when I rewind or use backstop, the typing screen goes backward (up to past work) momentarily, until I begin typing again. It starts the cursor back at the right place, but it is annoying that I can't see what I have just previously typed! Is there some setting I have accidently done to make this happen? I want my screen to stay where it's at when I utilize the foot pedal. Thanks!
