VEC Foot Pedal Driver for Ubuntu 6.10 Linux

Hi! I have installed Express Scribe using CrossOver to my Ubuntu 6.10 PC. The Express Scribe can run audio files, however the VEC Foot Pedals FPVECUSB/FPVECDB9, serial port (DB9) is not working. I set the Foot Pedal Playback Control to COM1 (serial), no. 3 pedals. In Microsoft XP this configuration runs well, how come in Ubuntu 6.10 Linux, it requires for a driver? If I need the driver, where can I download it and how can I configure it to my machine?
