Sounds like an echo chamber

When I listen to my CD ROM dictation tape, it sounds like it was recorded with a reverb program. There is at least a 2 second reverb, which makes transcribing quite challenging, let me tell you. I downloaded Express Scribe and installed it successfully (I think). The tone is fine and speed control works, etc. The only problem is this #$%^& echo. I think it must be my PC but I'm at a loss to figure out where the problem is. The problem actually started when I downloaded another program's 15-day trial. (CyberPlayer) That went fine except for this echo. I completely eradicated any vestige of that but the problem persists with E.S. Can anyone help me?
