Setting start and end of the main sequence

I have finished a video and when I go to export it, I get this error message.

Sequence start or endpoint were set. (etc)

Two of my clips are beyond the sequence endpoint. How do I increase the size of the sequence by defining a new endpoint?

  • borate changed the title to Setting start and end of the main sequence

Don't recall seeing that message at export.  But try this...

Click the Sequences tab at the top-left of the bin, then click on the sequence (likely Sequence 1) to view it in the preview window.

If there's a red bracket under the thumbnails, drag it to the far left.  If there's blue bracket, drag it to the far right.

Still no joy?

Please share the project and someone will take a look. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Well, I somehow fixed the initial problem, but don't know what I did.  But, now all the video clips in video track 1 are greyed out and don't show on playback of the video.  Audio plays ok but no video.  Also, text tracks on video track 2 do not show on playback.

I downloaded VideoPad and reinstalled, but that didn't help.  Closed the file, opened VP, cleared the cache folder, then opened video.  No help.

This maybe a simple problem, but I've never seen it before. I've been using VP for several years.

Did you follow the instruction above, to open the Sequences tab to Sequence 1, click on it so it shows in preview, then move the red and blue lines?

If that doesn't help, share the project as outlined above and someone will come up with a fix.
