I have a macbook pro core duo, and have the very same problem. Converting any type of file to .acc or .m4a terminates the program. I would LOVE to buy this program, but will not be able to because of this bug.

Since this program doesn't actually deliver all of its features, can anyone recommend one that does anything similar?

Same here. I found Max by Stephen Booth. Works great. Small irritation with filenaming that is actually worked out by choosing specific settings, but otherwise seems to like my 10.4.8 macs just fine.
