Problem with mixing segments

Hello,

 

I have a question. I am new to WavePad, and I am very impressed from the GUI and capabilities I get.

However I tried to do the next thing (many times):

 

I recorded a song (vocal & guitar) of mine.

I recorded some 5 seconds of guitar part to add to the song (in parallel - mixing) in a specific location, and copied it. I verified that is ok by pasting to a new file. I will call this segment to be mixed, the "solo".

 

option 1:

I marked with the mouse the start of the segment i want to mix to those 5 seconds of "solo". I used "paste with mix", and there was a mix indeed, but after it some part of the song replicated itself. It can be seen that actually the length in the time of the whole song got larger!

 

option 2:

the same, except i marked a segment of 12 seconds in the song and then "paste with mix", and tried all the possibilities i was offered. same odd results.

 

can you help?
