Encoding mp3

brand new to this so it's a really basic question I guess.

Switch works fine in covnerting WAV to mp3. The files play fine on the PC but I'm using a podcast tool (podpress) and the files play at warp speed. kHz is the solution it seems but I'm gormless when it comes to this. I need to encode the files into mp3 at 11.025kHz or 22.050kHz but Switch uses kbps. What's the equivalent kbps for these kHz settings?

we don't specifically support choosing the sample rate for the mp3 encoder. we provide a front-end for LAME and it would sometimes crash the program when passing certain combinations of input and output sample rates to it.

your workaround is to install WavePad (http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad) and convert the sample rate there to what you want, and THEN do an encode to mp3.

btw kbps and kHz have no direct correlation - even though they both reflect file quality to a degree, there is no sense of "converting" kbps to kHz and vice versa.
