I'm a complete newbie to Prism video converter. I'm trying to convert a DAV video file (no audio) to an mp4 format. I downloaded the version offered successfully and it boots ok. I was able to select and load my DAV file, and directed an mp4 conversion to "My Videos". Prism did its thing and dinged but when I go to the mp4 file, it's blank - nothing in it and it. The mp4 is recognized by my computer and the computer brings it up in media player (Windows 7) but the file appears blank. It looks like it is playing and times out after about 10 seconds but nothing is happening in the timeline. A timeline is shown but scrubbing the timeline still doesn't produce any video from the DAV file. The mp4 file itself has a lock icon in it in windows explorer.

I'm wondering if this is a trial version of Prism video converter and it lack the capability for DAV files? Do I need to use the paid version for DAVs? Alternately, what am I doing wrong? Thanks

That may explain it. When I Googled DAV files, NCH Prism came up at the top of the list and I noted that many other converters did support DAV so I might have made a bad assumption that Prism is capable. Still however, some of those others have a limitation on the length of DAV that can be converted using their trial versions, so that led me to wonder if the paid version of Prism would work (the length of the clip I'm trying to convert is longer than 5 minutes). Prism does open the DAV file and display the first frame. The converted mp4 file is also about the right size but has the padlock icon on it, so still wondering. Thanks for the response.

Thanks,

I did contact NCH support and got the reply that DAV files are not supported by Prism with their form letter of what files are supported. In the meantime, I found another converter which will convert and edit DAV files so I'm going that route. I might return to Prism later but for now the other alternative will be serving as my converter choice. Thanks.
