trjackson053006
I am slowly accruing files in my express scribe that I cannot delete. They usually delete automatically after I download them, but slowly there are a few that won't go away. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks This is the file where I select the file, not after I select the file.
Guest nchto
Dictation files that are currently loaded in Express Scribe are kept in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NCH Swift Sound\Scribe\Current. What you will have to do is go to the Current folder, identify the file causing the problem, and delete it. For each dictation loaded in Express Scribe there are three different files - a .dat file containing information about the file, a .txt file containing any Notes associated with the file, and a .wav file containing the audio (dictation). All three files have the same file name, which is usually an 8-digit number. What you will have to do is identify the stuck dictation file and remove it from the Current folder. If the file is difficult to identify because the name it is displaying in Express Scribe is different to the file names in the Current folder, you will have to look in the .dat files to find the correct file name. Open each .dat file with Windows NotePad until you locate the one causing the problem - e.g.: [file] loadfile=C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora Mail\attach\side2.wav loadcomplete=true name=side2 date=1125286039 status=List 4 of 5 loadfiledate=1125286039 In the above example showing the contents of a file called "00000278.dat", a dictation which displays the name "side2" in the Express Scribe window can be identified in the 'loadfile' line. Therefore the three files in the Current folder that are associated with the dictation "side2" are 00000278.dat, 00000278.txt and 00000278.wav. Deleting these three files from the Current folder will remove the "side2" dictation file from Express Scribe. Do the same for the problem dictation in your Express Scribe and you should be able to resume normal operations.
