Create more sequences by moving files from an existing sequence?

I have a sequence composed of many small clips, and it has become difficult to manage. 
I would like to have three sequences by moving parts of sequence 1.

the fastest way to do this would be to right click on the sequence and choose copy, then ctrl+v 

so it creates a identical 2nd sequence , then just delete the bits you dont want on the 2nd.

another option would be to add a new blank sequence and copy and paste from the first sequence.

I would advise the first method.
