PeterK
Previously using v10.47 of videopad and I had created a video from screen captures and mobile phone footage. The sound was fine. After upgrade to v11.38 [ ABOUT:Videopad v11.38 64bit Mar 28 2022 18:26:49 ] the sound was distorted. Initially I down graded to v10.47 and all worked again. Check in the community there were issues previous fixed by: - v10.84, open OPTIONS | MEDIA tab and UNcheck the box that reads: Automatically normalize audio volume of external audio/video files. Close VP. Relaunch VP. This did not help. I downloaded and installed an older version - V11.34 and this did not cause issues with the sound. Rather than use vpsetup.exe .. I downloaded and installed the file from the oldversions. videopad-11-38-2022-03-29-64bitpaid.exe [ ABOUT: Videopad v11.38 64bit Mar 28 2022 18:42:58 ] This file states a different time to the software installed using vpsetup.exe. Loaded from...http://www.oldversiondownload.com/oldversions/videopad-11-38-2022-03-29-64bitpaid.exe Note: Date 2022-03-29 on file . Not 28th as in 'About' menu. The sound on the video is now working as before.
borate
Can't replicate the issue, using the latest 64-bit download... https://www.nchsoftware.com/download/videopadsetup64.exe If the problem crops up again please share a file that does this, and the version #, and someone will check it out. Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. PeterK
Borate, thanks for getting back to me. In videopad, I did check for upgrade and was directed to the page - https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/versions.html The windows installation file https://www.nch.com.au/components/vpsetup.exe was downloaded. Running this performs the upgrade. Directory of C:\Users\petak\Downloads 02/04/2022 16:13 6,890,472 videopad-11-38-2022-03-29-64bitpaid.exe 03/04/2022 09:06 6,890,472 videopadsetup64.exe 03/04/2022 09:10 5,817,832 vpsetup.exe The first two files, the one you used and the one I found, both seem the same. Whereas vpsetup.exe seems different. Rolling back to v10.47 and re-upgrading using vpsetup.exe does not reproduce the issue now. The sound works OK. In the investigation I also did a v10.47->v11.34->v11.38, so the rollback was two steps before I re-ran the upgrade. Maybe this affected something. I'll check next time I upgrade. Thanks. borate
There's no mandate to upgrade if the release you have is doing the job. Sometimes it's best to wait and see if quirks surface. Newer versions can always be test driven - licensed or not.
