DecentVideoMaker
Hey y'all, it's me again, the guy who seems to always have problems with Videopad. I'm not gonna bore you with some dumb sob story "waa i use it for 2 years" this time, thank goodness. Sometimes when I load a video file into Videopad, it refuses to play and the preview of it is replaced with the most recent picture or video I looked at in the timeline. The audio of the clip plays fine, too. Even the clip's OWN preview does this thing too.
borate
Doesn't ring a bell. Install the latest release and see if that solves it. If not, come back with more specifics. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
DecentVideoMaker
The problem persists in the newest version. I can just no longer add video files to my projects, as only the first frame will show of them.
borate
Odd. All files or just a certain type? We need to see a mostly-completed project, where files cannot be added. Someone will analyze it and come up with the answer. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
DecentVideoMaker
Every video file is stuck on the first frame. I don't have a "mostly-completed project" that does this, I was just fooling around and this started happening.
borate
You are in Timeline, not Storyboard mode? If this persists, go for a clean install. Use this free tool to uninstall VP. After the normal uninstaller runs, the program will prompt for additional actions. Select ALL registry entries and delete them. Then install Videopad 11.20. DecentVideoMaker
I am in Timeline mode. I assume you meant to link the uninstall software, but I don't know what free tool you're talking about because you haven't linked it.
borate
Ooops. Try the link above now. And if possible, upload a link to a screen grab video of what you see... Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
DecentVideoMaker
Alright, I have used Revo, and nothing works. The thing still happens. Here is a link to a video of what happens:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BXNadwdMuVr4vReLSKoUVeuoYKmfEWPz/view?usp=sharing Go to 0:53 to see the main point. sure maybe it is an old meme but it's the first video i saw that i had that did that weird thing yes, some videos are now working
borate
Are these animated .gif files? Some may not animate in VP. Look here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAiJGgIZDms Click these links, click DOWNLOAD and place these files on the timeline, one after another. (The boy is mostly a video still frame.) https://1drv.ms/v/s!AmKCN6jvYsvCvz9J5eIEzon1fuWO?e=TwZhxk https://1drv.ms/v/s!AmKCN6jvYsvCv0C0Qsipsjny0Mvd?e=yD8bl8 If the files play then it seems that the editor is working. DecentVideoMaker
No, they're not GIFS. I have full 3 minute MP4s that won't play, and GIFS are working fine. I don't see the use in downloading those new files. It's not that new video files won't play (some will, some won't), it's that old ones that I happen to frequently use are just disabled now. borate
Share one or two of those files and someone will take a look. When you say "disabled" - do they import into the bin? Do they play in the bin but just not on the timeline?
DecentVideoMaker
They do not play in the bin. The thumbnail in the bin of them is replaced with what looks like a video "placeholder" - sort of a roll of film image. I will come back with some of the files in a little bit, but there's an answer to that. They also play in video viewing apps, like VLC Media Player. borate
You say that some files do play. Please share one or two that do not. Assume that you are using the latest version?
