Jurai10
I'm trying to show a video I made on top of a motion background and the video plays fine if its fit to the screen but if I shrink it down to a box it won't play it just shows the beginning image of the video. How do I get it to play?
borate
What version of Videopad is being used? What type of files are the background and the overlaid video? The background should be on track 1; the foreground (top) on track 2. What effect is being used to scale down the top image? So others can see what you see, please share the project. It's easy and can be private. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
Jurai10
Version Professional v10.81 Chrome Legacy Window 2021-09-15 23_18_28.mp4, 1920 x 972, aspect ratio 160:81, This is the video I'm trying to play in the box Space - 5200.mp4, 1920 x 1080, aspect ratio 16:9 This is the background The background is on track 1 and the video is on track 2. I also have another box that shows an image on track 3. On the screen is partially on top of the video box. I've tried Crop and motion affects but both don't play. Still if the video is fitted to the screen it plays but not when shrunk or cropped down. I will share it, thanks. Just wanted to get this reply out for now. borate
Yes, someone needs to see what you see. Please upload the project (not the export or the VPJ file alone) per the instructions above. You might also install the latest version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. borate
Perhaps something is being overlooked, but it plays and exports normally here, using VP version 10.96. Try that release for a clean cache and a clean start. Tested with your CROP, as well as SCALE and MOTION positioning. There's a gap at about 4:00 in track 2 after which no effect is applied to the Chrome Legacy Window, so the space background isn't seen.
Jurai10
Wow, I think that did it. I just downloaded 10.96 and it seems to work fine. I thought I had the latest version. Does it not auto update?
borate
No auto-update, and there's no need to if what you have works well. You can always test drive the latest, and revert if you prefer an earlier version. Perhaps it was a bad installation, as that behavior hasn't been reported by others. Glad it worked out.
