covo
xp, 32 bit; so let's go... during the installation (the latest version of Videopad and, for example, version 8) -- > https://i.imgur.com/RR4CQlF.png - "ffmpeg23.exe is not a valid Windows 32 application". Despite this, the program can be installed. So - downloading fmpeg23.exe, checking (by the click): https://i.imgur.com/SI0oLSr.png -- > "ffmpeg23.exe is not a valid Windows 32 application" I have no idea for this trouble ... borate
Likely an XP thing. That file is fine here. You might try older VP versions, perhaps back in the 4.x to 6.x days.
covo
yeah... my only conclusion is: this ffmpeg23.exe behaves (after double-click) like a file intended only for vista / w7/.... Anyway, XP gives a typical message for such a situation.
covo
The solution is: 1. First, install Videopad Ver. 5 (videopad-5-32-2017-12-18) -- > http://oldversiondownload.com/ 2. Take ffmpeg23.exe from (....)\ Program Files \ NCH Software(this is the last correct compilation of ffmpeg23.exe for XP) 3. Completely uninstall Videopad ver.5 4. Install the latest version of Videopad. Do not pay attention to screams about ffmpeg23.exe. After installation - close Videopad. 5. Double-click -- > ffmpeg23.exe from ver. 5 Videopad. You will receive information that "Component FFmpeg Library has been installed" That's all. The latest version of Videopad works. Does NCh share on WWW correct compilation of ffmpeg23.exe for Windows XP? With information: what to do with it. This will end the torment of many. borate
The 20-year old XP O/S was a good system, and remains on about 1% of computers, so few VP users are likely to run it. MS support ended in 2014. But for those few, your tip could prove helpful. Thanks for sharing. Another possible approach, via a right-click on Videopad.exe (the executable, after installing). Compatibility mode.

I belong to these "1%" maximally shocked that such a struggling company like NCh today does soft for Windows XP. But: NCh directly informs about it (!) -> https://i.imgur.com/XPjqagk.png -- > noblesse oblige -0-0- (!) Why Videopad mercilessly installs on a system partition, without choosing a place by the user ... (btw: Is there a portable version?)
borate
An install location option has been requested from time to time. File your suggestion... https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html Haven't run across a 'portable' version. https://portableapps.com/node/62698
mx1001
1) I found this 6.01 portable version :https://mega.nz/file/nHgRwYyB#hQlM27QMVoXBUtFs95DZUtQb0NhrQuVcABOPSCtkytM Don't know if it's still WinXP compatible . Includes a ffmpeg23.exe file (09.03.2018) . 2) I found ffmpeg19.exe from 2015:https://mega.nz/file/KDoxVQzR#r0YwKqASOnB3raxUsFndnKWTiqcno4hz8hbGF4YLZm8 So try to Install a 4.x version or 3.x version from:http://www.oldversiondownload.com/
covo
1. Somewhere, right next to v.6 portable is not ... v.10 portable? :) :) 2. According to what I wrote above - v.6 portable is good for XP. Of course - you need to have a matching ffmpeg23 file. Thats all. (ffmpeg23 from v.6 portable is good for XP. I checked ffmpeg23 from the v.6 installation version of videopad - the file did not match XP. "A little" strange...) 3. I do not understand why did you write about ffmpeg19 & v.3/v.4 of Videopad ...
