Distorted image on uploaded mpg files to videpad.

Hi, I`m a newby to this, so please be patient.  When I upload an MPG file to videopad it displays a distorted image in that there are two identical images in each frame which are 90 degrees apart.

I've used it a couple of times and it worked fine but this problem suddenly arose and I can`t figure out what`s causing it.

I`ve tried a few different files with the same result and I've also tried repairing the videopad app from the uninstall menu.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • borate changed the title to Distoted image on uploaded mpg files to videpad.

Under OPTIONS | DISK menu, Clear Unused Cache Files.

What version of Videopad is being used?  Update to the latest.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

Come back if the issue isn't resolved, and share a file that does this.  Someone will check it out.  Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum.  When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."

Hi, many thanks for your prompt reply, sorry it's taken me so long to respond.  I used the link you provided and installed the latest version of videopad and I cleared the cache as you suggested, but the problem persists.

I've tried all of the mpg files which I've created with EASY CAP from old vhs tapes and whilst I can play the mpg files with windows media player and vcl a soon as I transfer them to video pad I get the same distorted image.

As I said I'm new to this and I've never transferred a file in the way you've suggested but I will try.  However, as the mpg files play perfectly.  I can't see of what use you can make of them?  I can probably send you a screen shot which will show a single distorted frame.

What I can`t understand is why it worked fine for the first couple of files I transferred.

Please find a link,One Drive, to short mpg file I`ve just copied using Easy  Cap.  I've already uploaded it to new download of Video Pad and it appears in the time line as a  distorted image as I previously described.  I will attempt to uploaded a screen shot of a single frame showing the distortion.  Any help much appreciated.

What release is being used?  Looks normal here in this version.  Try it.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

Confirm that the video driver and Direct-X are up to date...   https://www.nch.com.au/kb/10265.html

I've downloaded a copy of "this version" but it's giving me the same distorted image when I upload the short video to it.  I`m trying to get a copy of the distorted frame from "clipboard" to here, without success?   I'll try the updates you've suggested next.

Hi sorry again for the delay but I can only access this for limited periods each day.  CPU is pentium  dual core 2.8ghz, ram +4gb, onboard graphics. win 10 pro. ver 20H2.  I will try to upload the distorted project I've created to one drive and paste the link here.

https://1drv.ms/v/s!AnONDyu1lHXukAv7FX6Iga3LIihY?e=2ruo3v link to distorted copy exported from Videopad.  After exporting I downloaded it from one drive and it appears to be ok???  The distortion seems only to occur whilst actually in Videopad for editing.  I`ll try to get a page shot.

You did check for an updated video driver, and status of Direct-X?

Very strange, and never seen before.  Hints that it's related to your PC.   Video editing is resource intensive but you should be having no problem with a simple Mpg file.

Try this.  Install this version as a test and see if that changes anything.

Hi, Many thanks, but Link not working this.

Directx = version 12 which appears to be the latest stable version.  Device manager says that the best drivers are already installed although I don't know where to look specifically for the video drivers, display controller?

Great, that link worked and so does that version.  Distortion gone!   Wonder what in the later versions was causing it?   I'll try it a couple of times over the next few days just to prove it.  I'm remembering that the other version worked for the first few videos and then kaput!

Anyway many thanks for your expert knowledge and the time you've spent with this.  You`re a star😍.

Hard to say why there's distortion when using the current version.  Can't replicate it here.

Since 8.45, VP architecture has changed somewhat.

The path to an updated driver is outlined in the FAQ linked above.  You shouldn't have to mess with Device Manager - especially in the case of a NVidia self-installing driver.
