New to sound editing.

Hello -

 

I'm very new to sound editing. I downloaded WavePad so I can copy recorded talks from my cassette player to a CD, preferably in MP3 format. My main reason for wanting to do so is to reduce background noices so I can hear the speaker better.

 

Although I experimented with the Noice Reduction features of WavePad to do this, whatever I do seems to affect the speaker's voice as well.

 

Is it possible to separate two sounds that occur at the same time (the speaker and the crying baby, for example) and reduce or cut the unwanted sound?

 

I appreciate any reply that will help. Please keep in mind that I'm not too familiar with sound editing terms.
