sharon cheng
Hello, I want to make my videos more clearer. I tried using the Sharpen Effect with VideoPad. Here is the original clip and the clip with sharpness = 0.5 (I played around with different levels of sharpness, thought this one works the best in term of clearness and displaying image normally). Original: https://youtu.be/_3j367PdjTg With sharpen effect at 0.5 https://youtu.be/6kKxBJtoxYk Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance! sharon cheng
@borate Thank you so much! I will try that! It is very good, much more clearer. May I know the general guidance for this type of adjustments? I have many videos needed the adjustments so I want to learn it myself. Thank you in advance! borate
Play with effect settings, such as the Color adjustments suggested in the demo above. Apply an effect, juggle its settings to your taste, then try another. When satisfied that it's the best it can be, save the result. Click the folder icon on the effect window toolbar. Give it a name. Your saved effect will appear as just another icon at the bottom of the effects window, so you can apply it to subsequent projects.
sharon cheng
@ borate The letters are a little too dark, especially in the tables (if you move forward the clip, you will tables in the output), I think it is because the prints in table are smaller, so the letters appear too dark and not sharp enough. Which criterion should I adjust? Bright, contrast or gamma? Thanks! Regards, Sharon
borate
Juggle them all, striving for a reasonable compromise. The settings are not mutually exclusive. Try increasing gamma slightly.
sharon cheng
@borate The preview is pretty blurry, even after enlarging it to full screen. Is there a way to make it clear as original clip? Thanks! Sharon
borate
Dragging the PV screen smaller may sharpen the image. Export is the real test. The clarity will be related to the export resolution. Experiment for best results.
sharon cheng
@borate that means it is hard to see clearly with preview --- has to Export the video. But the PV does not even give the resolution as the original clip no matter how small the screen is :(. Does all the editing software has this kind of issue? Thanks! borate
Don't have insight on other apps, but a .50 sharpened VP image, at the right, with PV window undocked and made larger compares favorably to the original.
sharon cheng
@borate I have a clip, I tried many tests, this is the best I can get (sharpness = 0.80, brightness = 0, contrast = -6. Grammar = 0.7), but still not quite right. Please help! https://youtu.be/VpGCUcOIuLs The original clip is https://youtu.be/KduN9KyiPUI Thanks for the help! borate
The VP-doctored clip looks quite usable to me - considerably better than the original. That may be the limit of VP capability to enhance this content.
