Aspect Ratio

How can I change aspect ratio? I have an old video that is stretched out as it was taken in a different aspect ratio.

In the bin (top-left), right-click and Change Clip Aspect Ratio.  That's one way.  If it doesn't do what you want come back here.

I tried rt click on the video in the bin, scrolled way down to "Properties" got a drop down list and selected different ratio. went bac and no change.

Please be aware I am brand new to all of this, so may not know the terms used.

You don't want PROPERTIES.  Click on Change Clip Aspect Ratio and choose a ratio.  Then the clip can be dropped onto the timeline.
