Xanlithe
I was just about to buy VideoPad when my computer crashed. Old computer: i7700k, RX480 Radeon, 16g Ram. I almost always import 1 gb files. Was fairly fast on old computer, 10-20 seconds. New computer i10700k, GTX 2070 Super, 16g Ram. Now 1 gb files take up to 2 minutes. Installed same version of program on both computers (8.45). Why? I downgraded from latest version to get a good comparison between the 2 computers. In any case the newer version was just as slow. All drivers and Windows updated to most recent versions. borate
Using the latest VP version here on a PC with specs similar to yours a 1.2GB MOV file launched VP and loaded in about fourteen seconds. This hints that VP isn't the problem??
Xanlithe
Thanks for your response. When you say similar specs, do you mean a 10th gen Intel CPU? What component of a computer most affects the loading/processing of an added file? I guess I don't know the answer to that question. All of the benchmarks of the components using various software for benchmarking seem to indicate that all the components are performing up to spec. borate
I7-8700 with 32GB RAM and a lower-end video card than yours (GTX-1060). Don't know the answer to your query, but something is amiss if it takes two-minutes to import a 1GB file. Close other programs while editing. Testing again, this time in v8.68 beta, a 1.5GB mp4 file launched VP and displayed in preview in less than twenty-five seconds.
Xanlithe
Can anyone answer what the main component for adding files and how fast it processes? Is it CPU, GPU, RAM? Combo? if combo, what is most important?
borate
Upload one of the 'two-minute' 1GB files to a free server, get a shareable link that can be viewed by anyone and post it here. We'll compare.
