Corrupted File

I am still running WavePad 2.0 and haven't used it in a while (obviously), until tonite.

I wanted to open a file that I have had saved on my computer for about a year. It is a phone message that was very important to me, and I was going to share it with a friend via email, and I opened it in WavePad to edit out some noise at the end before sending it. Well, after I played it a couple of times, the program froze and I had to click that "end program now" button.

When I reopened the file, it was corrupted and unplayable. I am at my wits end trying to figure out if it is somehow salvagable. I am extremely upset by this.

Any thought or suggestions?
