unable to get express scribe running on osx10.4

Hello,

 

I'd like to work with express scribe on my ibook ( 1ghz, OSX 10.4.6) but starting the application creates a spinning wheel. The express scribe window appears but it doesn't react on clicks.

 

Has anybody made the same experience or does someone know how to solve the problem?

I don't get the spinning wheel. I have 10.4.6 on a dual G3 with 1GB RAM. The folder-first file loading is a bit unusual (see the MP3 thread), but the app itself loads and runs OK (ES 4.05).
