Guest cpa
I can connect a cell phone's headset connector to the computer's analog mic and headphone jacks, or I can connect a usb-bluetooth connector to the computer and have the computer communicate with the phone over bluetooth. But I see no way in IVM to specify that there's a phone connected to the mic and headphone jacks or that there's a phone available over bluetooth. Is there any possible way to make IVM answer cell phones?

cpa2
This applications requires the use of a TAPI compliant modem to be installed in your computer. Once it's installed properly it will answer all calls including cell <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In that case, the cell phone must be connected to the TAPI modem. But how is that accomplished? There's a product called Dock-N-Talk sold by PhoneLabs which interfaces standard (landline) telephone handsets to cell phones, and since the computer's modem acts like a standard telephone, maybe Dock-N-Talk could be used to interface a cell phone to the modem. But is that really necessary? Or is there a simpler way to interface the cell phone to the modem? Cellphone analog headsets are just speakers and microphones, and they plug directly into the cell phone; could the modem likewise be directly connected to the cell phone? Seth
Cingular (and maybe some other companies) allow call forwarding to any number (even your home number) when you're not available. You can then get messages in one place. The downside is that, if you're out, you'll have to check messages at home since you won't see the voicemail indicator on your phone. This does not require any TAPI compliant voice modem. The IVM software should be able, therefore, to access the Bluetooth stack and use Handsfree protocol to interface with a connected cell phone, shouldn't it?
