Hum in my recordings

I am recording(preaching etc.) from a sound system (mixer board) through line-in to my computer .When I play back , I have a Humming noise in the back ground. I suppose its a ground problem. Any suggestions ??

I just had the same issue with trying to record a record using my turntable patched through a pre-amp and then into my lapop mic input. I ended up finding out the stereo plug into the computer was not quite long enouhg and was not make a good ground contact. When I really pushed it in and held it the sound quality improved dramitically and the hum went away.
