What is actually happening with "virtual kernel device driver"

Recommended Posts

Can anyone here explain in some detail how ST really works?

I mean explain what is meant by and what is really happening in

the "Virtual kernel driver"?

Sounds as if it means ST gets at the sound before it ever gets to any system hardware or seperate sound card type machinery.

Does it actually interact with the kernel? If so then what is actually happening there?
